“ARE YOU SATISFIED WITH YOUR LIFE?”

“WARNING!!!”

COLOSSIANS 2:4-7

Colossians 1:28 “Him we preach, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus.”

Colossians 2:4-7 “Now this I say lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words. 5For though I am absent in the flesh, yet I am with you in spirit, rejoicing to see your good order and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ. 6As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.”

Warning!!!!

Four Warnings in the rest of the chapter:

*2:4 “Now this I say lest anyone should deceive you with persuasive words.”

*2:8 “Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ.”

*2:16 “So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths.”

*2:18 “Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind.”

vs.4 “deceive”-means to trick or to trap, beguile.

1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.”

2 Corinthians 11:3 “But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.”

2 Corinthians 11:13-15

Ephesians 4:14 “That we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting.”

Can you back up what you believe, by the Word of God?

vs.4- How they deceive: “with persuasive words” or enticing words.

2 Peter 2:1-3

2 Peter 2:12-15

The only way we will be able not to be tripped up is to know the truth.

John 8:32 “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

It is not about feelings, it is about facts-The Word of God!

Proverbs 22:21 “That I may make you know the certainty of the words of truth, That you may answer words of truth To those who send to you?”

vs.5 “…rejoicing to see your good order and the steadfastness of your faith in Christ.”

“Order”-to stand shoulder to shoulder.

Do you have order in your life?

Titus 1:5 “For this reason I left you in Crete, that you should set in order the things that are lacking, and appoint elders in every city as I commanded you.”

Are you stedfast?

2 Peter 3:17 “You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked;”

Colossians 2:6 “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him.”

Learn How To Walk:

How do you walk? The same way you received Jesus Christ as your Savior. That is “by faith”-Ephesians 2:8-9

Galatians 3:2-3 “This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? 3Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?”

Are you going to live by feelings or by faith?

Colossians 2:7 “rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.”

“rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith”:

1.   “Rooted”

Psalm 1:1-3

We are rooted by meditating in the Word of God day and night.

2.   “Built up”

Proverbs 24:3 “Through wisdom a house is built,

And by understanding it is established;”

Built up through wisdom.

3.   “Established”

Romans 10:17

Colossians 2:7 “abounding in it with thanksgiving.”

You must know the Word of God.

You must know what you believe, why you believe and be able to back it up with the Word of God.
