“OPERATE OR DIE?”

COLOSSIANS 2:10-11

Colossians 2:6-11 “As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving. 8Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. 9For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; 10and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power. 11In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ.”

It’s not the act of circumcision that brings salvation. It’s through faith and believing in God. Circumcision is a sign or a picture.

Colossians 2:11 “In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ.”

Circumcision has to do with new beginnings.

Romans 15:4 “For whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope.”

Genesis 3:15 “And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”

The battle is between man’s seed and the devil’s

Galatians 3:16 “Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,” who is Christ.”

Hebrews 10:19-20 “Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, 20by a new and living way which He consecrated for us, through the veil, that is, His flesh.”

Circumcision is a picture of God revealing Himself the source of light.

1 Peter 1:23 “Having been born again, not of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which lives and abides forever.”

We need a new beginning, and that starts with Christ.

Romans 1:3-4 “Concerning His Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was born of the seed of David according to the flesh, 4and declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead.”

Jesus Christ is the seed that gives us a chance at a new beginning.

2.   What Does Paul Mean When He Talks About A Circumcision Made Without Hands?

Colossians 2:11 “In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ.”

Deuteronomy 10:16 “Therefore circumcise the foreskin of your heart, and be stiff-necked no longer.”

God says I want to circumcise your heart- for the heart is where everything comes from.

Proverbs 4:23 “Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.”

He says it is an operation done without hands:

Romans 2:25-29

So the Spirit is dead if you don’t know Jesus as your Savior, it is lifeless.

Hebrews 4:12 “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.”

The Word of God is God’s knife.

2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”

It’s a spiritual operation and there is no life without it.
