“ARE YOU SATISFIED WITH YOUR LIFE?”

“BAPTISM-NO WATER NEEDED”

COLOSSIANS 2:11-12

Colossians 2:11-12 “In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.”

What is the big deal about baptism?

We See Seven Baptisms in the Word of God:

Ephesians 4:1-6

“One baptism” vs.5- There are seven different types of baptisms mentioned in the Word of God. Six of them are figures, pictures, or symbols of the one true baptism that is essential to you.

A Baptism Without Water:

1.  Baptism of Moses

1 Corinthians 10:1-4

2.   Baptism of Death

Matthew 20:20-23

3.   Baptism of John the Baptist

Matthew 3:1-12

4.   Baptism of Repentance

Acts 2:38 “Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”

5.   Baptism of the Church- Water baptism- a picture of what Jesus did for us and an act of obedience.

6.   Baptism by Fire

Matthew 3:11 “I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire.”

7.   Baptism of the Holy Spirit- this is the baptism without water. This is a baptism we must have or we cannot see life. This is the baptism the apostle Paul spoke of in Ephesians 4:5 “One Lord, one faith, one baptism.”

1 Corinthians 12:13 “For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit.”

Baptism As A Figure:

Baptism means an immersion. It means to be immersed. Go down into the water and come up out of the water.

Acts 8:36-39 “Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?” 37Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.” 38So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him. 39Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing.”

Baptism is a Burial:

Colossians 2:12 “Buried with Him in baptism

Romans 6:1-5

Baptism is also a Resurrection:

Colossians 2:12 “in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.”

Romans 6:9-11

Matthew 3:13-17

1 Peter 3:21 “There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”

Peter calls baptism a picture of the spiritual reality that takes place in the heart.

The Facts Behind This Figure of Baptism:

What is the story?

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 “Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, 2by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain.

3For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, 4and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.”

Galatians 1:8-9 “But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. 9As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.”

Colossians 2:12 “through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.”

It is the working of God or an operation. Water baptism is a picture of this. These are the facts.

Have you been spiritually baptized in Christ by God?

Do you know Jesus Christ as your Savior?

Have you turned your life totally over to Him?

Are you letting the old nature come back into your life?

Are you just a church member or are you a world changer?

John 14:15 ““If you love Me, keep My commandments.”

John 14:21 “He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.”

John 14:23-25

Baptism is a way to let others know that you have trusted Christ and you are not ashamed of Him.

1 Peter 3:18-21 “For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit, 19by whom also He went and preached to the spirits in prison, 20who formerly were disobedient, when once the Divine longsuffering waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was being prepared, in which a few, that is, eight souls, were saved through water. 21There is also an antitype which now saves us—baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”

Baptism is a proclamation of victory. I am alive in Christ! Are you alive in Christ?
