“LIVING FOR THE AUDIENCE OF ONE”
PROVERBS 29:25
Living for the approval of people is dysfunctional and destructive!
Proverbs 29:25 “The fear of man brings a snare, But whoever trusts in the Lord shall be safe.”
Peter was asked if he was a follower of Jesus:
Luke 22:56,57 “And a certain servant girl, seeing him as he sat by the fire, looked intently at him and said, “This man was also with Him.” 57But he denied Him, saying, “Woman, I do not know Him.”
John 12:42-43
David- praying for relief from his tormentors.
Psalm 56:1-4
1 Samuel 21:10-15
Saul was commanded to kill Amalekites and everything they had, wives, children, and cattle.
1 Samuel 15:24 “Then Saul said to Samuel, “I have sinned, for I have transgressed the commandment of the Lord and your words, because I feared the people and obeyed their voice. “
A spiritual person is one who lives for the audience of “One, Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 4:3-5
We need to be living our lives in light of the second coming of Jesus Christ. The audience of One!
2 Corinthians 5:10 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive the things done in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.”
Romans 14:12 “So then each of us shall give account of himself to God.”
How Do We Get To The Level of Living for the Audience of One?
- You Must Seek Approval From God Alone
Matthew 6:1-4
You cannot be a secret Christian, but don’t go around tooting your own horn about what your doing.
2. Let Your Actions and Decisions be Motivated by the Audience of One
Psalm 89:15 “Blessed are the people who know the joyful sound!
They walk, O Lord, in the light of Your countenance.”
Revelation 4:11 “You are worthy, O Lord, To receive glory and honor and power; For You created all things, And by Your will they exist and were created.”
3. The Results of This
Abundant life
Freedom
Partnering with God to carry out His mission on this earth.
Acts 3,4- Peter and John arrested:
Acts 4:19-20 “But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge. 20For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.”
Listening for the voice of God and living our lives for the audience of One.
The great cure for evil is to trust God:
Psalm 56:3 “Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You.”
Isaiah 26:3-4 “You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. 4Trust in the Lord forever, For in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength.”
